Most dependable cars
Lexus and Porsche lead the auto industry for dependability according to the J.D. Power 2017 Vehicle Dependability Study. However, you don’t need to buy the luxury brands to get a quality car.
Toyota is the highest non-premium brand followed by Buick and Mercedes-Benz.
Hyundai had its best ranking ever at the sixth spot.
The study looks at problems during the last 12 months for owners of 2014 model year vehicles.
Technology problems
As cars are loaded up with more technical equipment, J.D. Power is noticing an increase in problems. For the second year in a row, dependability got worse.
For the third year, Bluetooth pairing and connectivity issues along with built-in voice recognition are the biggest problem.
Battery failure is on the rise. 44% more owners reported the problem making the battery issue a top 10 problem.
