What to buy in March
While the holidays of March are on our minds, the deals are on the leftovers from Valentine’s Day. Think chocolate. Dealnews found up to 50% discounts on Ghiradelli chocolates. They are high-end chocolates, so indulge your sweet tooth for a discount price.
While flowers were in demand last month, this month is when you can save. Dealnews says last year it saw 15-25% discounts at Teleflora and 1-800-Flowers.
The deal site looks at the offers last year to make predictions for this year.
While we are still on the holidays, let’s talk about St. Patrick’s Day. The day everyone is Irish! Restaurants will offer BOGO and special purchase prices for St. Patrick’s Day. Look for offers to save if you wear green.
If you’re still in need of St. Patrick’s Day clothing, check out discounts. The Children’s Place has shirts for $3.80 and up.
March is Frozen Food Month
Now let’s move past all those holidays to an unofficial holiday.
Stock up on frozen foods. It seems everything has a month, and March is Frozen Food month. Look for coupons, and extra discounts at a grocery store near you.
Discount gift cards
Gift cards are an easy way to save money when shopping for everyday products. Retailers offer deals where you can get $25 off a $100 gift card. Dealnews says March is the month for these big discounts on gift cards. For example, a Lowe’s $100 gift card went for $75 last March. The next month it jumped to $90.
You can always save on gift cards by purchasing them used. It just means someone got the gift card and didn’t want it. It doesn’t mean the value was used. The value is guaranteed. Gift Card Granny is one such site that sells gift cards.
Clothing and shoe discounts
Of course, cold weather clothing is on sale as stores need to make way for spring clothing.
If you live near a Stride Rite, find out if it’s closing. Many stores are closing across the country and have 50% off on children’s shoes. The discounts will likely increase as the store closing date gets closer.
